This is a print from one of my oil pastel works.
A red dragon rests atop a rocky hill, gazing across a flowering meadow toward a distant castle crowned with fluttering banners. Bright wildflowers spill across the landscape, softening the presence of the dragon and transforming the scene from one of menace into quiet guardianship. The textured surface and saturated color lend the image a warm, storybook quality—one that feels equally at home in a fantasy tale or a lived-in domestic space. This piece was conceived as a large hearth-centered work, meant to invite imagination, comfort, and a sense of timeless myth into the heart of the home.
From the Artist: My wife like to shop for frames that I can use for my art by going to garage sales, antique stores, and consignment stores. One day she show up with a HUGE ornate frame. She liked it so much that she decided to keep it and requested that I make a work to fit it for our living room above the fireplace. It's a bit different from my usual style because I gave my wife, a romantacy fan, a lot of opportunity to help me with the choices of subject and color.
The original for this is a HUGE 36"x48" work on streched canvas made using Sennelier oil pastels.
