During a snowy winter somewhere in the American Wild West, nature faces off with the works of mankind on a cold misty day. A massive bison bull stands on the tracks blocking the way of the steam engine "The General". It's buffalo against train in a contest of wills as the great animal challenges the great machine.
From the Artist: I'd done an image a year prior to this one of a bison charging a locomotive. It's actually one of my favorites. This one is a bit of a follow up to that where the buffalo seems to have won out a bit and has stopped the train. Of quick note, I'm not sure how much the General actually made it out West. It's a rather famous train in the area I live in and sits in a museum only a few miles from my home. It was one of the two trains involved in the Great Locomotive Chase of the Civil War.
