This is a print from one of my oil pastel drawings.
A young lute player rests in a quiet stone courtyard surrounded by weathered masonry and climbing ivy. Dressed in richly colored medieval-inspired clothing, the musician pauses in a reflective moment as soft light falls across the old walls and greenery around her. The scene blends elements of historical romance, fantasy, and old European architecture, evoking the atmosphere of wandering minstrels, forgotten castles, and timeless songs carried across generations.
From the artist: I've always been a big fan of the Renaissance Festival. Growing up I would go every year. In the Atlanta area, it happens at the end of spring, and with Georgia weather, it can be absurdly hot. By the late afternoon, people begin to get tired and I remember once seeing one of the musicians taking a quick siesta between sets. That inspired me to create this image.
The original for this work is an 18"x 24" artwork on Ampersand Pastelbord made using Sennelier Oil pastels and Faber Castell Polychromos colored pencils.
